Contact Jason

You can email me at jason@kottke.org or find me on AIM as damptrousers. I get a lot of email and often don't have time to chat, but I do read everything that I receive and will try my best to respond.

To increase your chances of a reply, you might find the following helpful:

1. Read the FAQ first...you'll find it in the sidebar of the about page. The answer to your question might be there.

2. When emailing, keep the "kottke.org feedback" subject line intact and add your subject line on the end like so: "kottke.org feedback - Your photos of Ireland". DO NOT use subject lines like "Hi", "Hello", "Read this", or "Something for you"...they're too commonly used by spammers, decreasing the likelihood that your message will get through my spam filters to me. Oh, and no blank subject lines.

3. Don't email me attachments. This includes whatever weird signature images, vcards, background wallpapers, and the like that your email client automatically attaches to your email. I have spam filters set up to delete email with attachments from people I've never corresponded with before.

4. For some of the posts on my site, I turn on comments. If possible, respond to those posts by leaving a comment, not via email or AIM. If you feel uncomfortable responding in public, comment anonymously or drop me an email. Please do not use comments as a general contact mechanism...that's what email is for.

5. Regarding IM: I'm not much of a chatter so email is generally preferred, but if you have a question or comment about something, I'll try to answer it. If you do IM me, give me some idea of who you are (name, URL, etc.) so that I know who I'm talking to. Your chances of a response increase greatly if we've met, emailed, or IMed before, if we share a mutual acquaintance, or if I've recently linked to your web site. Also, do not add me to your IM list, forget about it, and then two months later, IM me asking, "hey, who is this and what are you doing on my IM list?"

6. If you have a question about Silkscreen, read the information on that page before emailing me.
